The best time to have a 3D or 4D ultrasound is when you are between 24 and 31 weeks pregnant. Before 26 weeks your baby doesn’t have enough fat under their skin to see their features clearly and after 31 weeks they might be too deep in your pelvis to get a clear view of their face.
Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Natural sugars such as fruit and fruit juice may help keep baby active during the ultrasound. You do not need a full bladder for your ultrasound.
3D and 4D ultrasounds use the same sound waves as the traditional 2D black-and-white scans routinely performed by your obstetrician, so they are considered safe by medical experts.
Many studies have been conducted on the safety of ultrasound scans during pregnancy, and there is currently no evidence to show that there is a risk to the mother or the unborn baby.
Our ultrasound room can comfortably accommodate up to 4 people with a large screen, so everyone can enjoy meeting your baby.
If we can’t get clear photos and videos of baby because they are asleep or in a difficult position, we will get you back at another time at no extra cost.
We use the latest technology, so the pictures and videos we capture are very high quality. However your baby’s position, the amount of fluid surrounding the baby, baby’s activeness and your placenta position are some of many factors that may affect clarity.
If the sonographer feels that the clarity is severely impacted, the cost of your session (minus the deposit) will be refunded to you.
You sure can! Your images and videos will be added to a USB and available for you to take home with you at the end of your ultrasound appointment.
It’s best to wear pants/shorts and a top so that we can easily access your stomach for the ultrasound.
No, our scans are non-diagnostic, so you don’t require any referral.
The ultrasound is non-diagnostic, so we don’t monitor the health of the baby or your pregnancy. Your scheduled ultrasounds with your obstetrician do however, so make sure you have these ultrasounds when requested.
Please contact us 48 hours prior to your appointment so that we can reschedule.
